NWA Illinois State Heavyweight Champion "Showtime" Shane Somers is concerned that The Jagged Edge is coming for his title.

From art festivals to venues rich in wrestling history, you could find wrestling almost anywhere in Georgia last weekend. But Georgia wrestlers are venturing to other parts of the country in search of championship gold, which is why Wrestling with Pop Culture and guest co-host Matt “Sex” Sells talk to NWA Illinois State Heavyweight Champion “Showtime” Shane Somers on this week’s Georgia Wrestling Now. After an impressive NWA Central-States Championship Wrestling debut by The Jagged Edge recently, Somers’ title could definitely be at risk in the near future. In the second half of this week’s show we’re joined by Georgia Wrestling History‘s Larry Goodman as we talk to Rampage Pro Wrestling commentator Nigel Sherrod, who defends his Georgia All-Star Wrestling Junior Heavyweight Championship against “The Best” Lamar Phillips this Friday. Things tend to always be at least a little odd in the wrestling world, but sometimes the Georgia wrestling scene gets even wackier than usual. This weekend some of the strangest local and national promotions host events outside the realm of what some wrestling fans are accustomed to seeing. Monstrosity Championship Wrestling returns to Club Famous May 3 and WrestleForce‘s “The Juggernaut” Jon Malus wants to issue a special challenge to a member of the MCW roster. Will he reveal his target to Wrestling with Pop Culture and Team All You Can Eat’s Matt Hankins on tonight’s Georgia Wrestling Now? Chikara also makes its Georgia debut May 4 with The Ghost of You Clings, so we’ll be talking to the Batiri’s Kobald about his grudge match against Amasis this Saturday. It was a historic weekend in the Georgia wrestling scene, and the coming weekend looks to be just as exciting. On this week’s Georgia Wrestling Now, Team All You Can Eat’s Matt Hankins, Georgia Wrestling History‘s Larry Goodman and Wrestling with Pop Culture talk to a few of the key figures in this weekend’s major events. First we hear from one of Georgia’s most flamboyant tag teams the BFFs (“Marvelous” Michael Stevens and “Adorable” Anthony Andrews) about their Rampage Pro Wrestling rematch against “Hit for Hire” Bobby Moore and Simon Sez this Sunday. Less than two weeks before Anarchy Wrestling‘s most brutal springtime event Hardcore Hell, we talk to Anarchy mainstay Slim J about his role at Hardcore Hell on March 30, as well as this Saturday’s match pitting him and Azrael against Alabama Attitude (Mike Posey and Corey Hollis). Matt “Sex” Sells also gives us the punchline on his recent and upcoming matches for Pro Wrestling Resurrection, Platinum Championship Wrestling and NWA Atlanta, as well as his return to the comedic stage at the Laughing Skull Lounge on March 20. Listen live every Monday at 7 p.m. and call 347-324-5735 for questions or comments.
